Are you considering stopping protection of your systems to save a few dollars? Think again.

We have been in business for over 23 years and have never seen the risks to businesses increase as fast as they are now. The reason is Artificial Intelligence (AI).

AI has changed everything when it comes to protecting your computer systems. In the past once you stopped protection of your computer systems you could potentially go over a few years or few months before you would need to be concerned about hackers.

Now, with the help of AI, the time frame for getting hacked is almost immediate. You could have problems within a couple of weeks after stopping protection on your computer systems.

AI has replaced the human hackers so now they need fewer people to create havoc. Where at one time a human being would have to be involved in each hacking incident, now the people trying to create chaos in your business can hit hundreds of systems within a fraction of the time it would take humans to do the same thing and do it more often.

Add to that the fact that so many companies have now been compromised and the hackers probably already have bits and pieces of your personal information before they even try to get into your computer. A couple of the large hospitals in Nashville are still recovering from hacks that took place over a year ago where many individuals and businesses had their information stolen.

A lot of your personal and business information is probably out there already so hackers have access to it. They can use AI, along with the bits and pieces of information they already have, to gain access to your systems.

It’s like the Wild West. If you don’t have someone looking out for you and your business, it will be attacked. AI (Artificial Intelligence) is working to obtain as much information about you as possible. If you read the fine print in ChatGPT, companies are using AI to record conversations, and they are not responsible for keeping the data truly protected and the data is stored.

Another way AI gets into your computer is via phone calls. You think they are calling to help you when they are actually trying to get into your computer system to destroy it or steal your information. They can use a phone call spoofing a person’s voice to make you think you are talking to someone you know, but you are really talking to a hacker.

AI is a superfast way of spoofing a real person that you think you are in touch with via email. The email address could be one you recognize. They use an actual email address that you may recognize as legitimate. You think the email came from someone you know, but it is actually being sent by a hacker. When you click on the link in the email, software downloads in the background that gives hackers access to your computer.

But the good news is AI can also be used to protect your systems. In this case, the AI is supplemented by trained security personnel.

When you work with our company, you will talk to a real person, not a robot. And we only deal with tech companies that provide real human beings for support rather than just AI or robots.

It may be time to renew your computer maintenance contract. But your business is still running smoothly. You decide it can save money by NOT renewing your maintenance contract.

A recent client just did this. What a difference a few years makes in hacking and ID attempts! Instead of having a period of slowing worsening computer conditions, it took less than 2 weeks after the protection and maintenance was removed for hackers to gain access to their computer system.

I received a text recently from the client requesting that services be restored just 2 weeks after they cancelled. They were being inundated by spam, even though their credit bureau files were locked, it appears that there was enough dark web information released ( thank your ATT, Dell, MoveIt, TicketMaster just this year) to create fake identities.

Apparently big companies get by with slaps on the wrist with them providing credit monitoring for those affected by the breach, no real protections are provided for small companies from larger companies.

How would you recover your business if your system got hacked?

Think about this. If you are a healthcare provider who has to deal with HIPPA requirements, as you know, you could be audited at any time and fines can range from a few hundred dollars to $50,000…and more.

Think about your own business. How would it impact you if someone stole all your customer data? How would you recover?

You have enough to worry about in your business just dealing with the day-to-day activities that come with running a successful business.

So what is it worth to you to have peace of mind knowing that regardless of the scenario that occurs in your business, you have a way to recover quickly?

Doesn’t this sound better than having to scramble to recover from one of the aforementioned disasters?

This is a great time of year to review and renew your computer maintenance contracts to avoid heartache and pain in the future.

All the best,
Jim Nay
