Happy Valentine’s Day! I I hope you get to enjoy some time with your loved ones.

The Valentine’s Day of today is a lot different than the one envisioned in the Roman Empire. In that time period, the Saint Valentine was martyred and his body buried on February 14th and so was commemorated into Western Christianity on February 14th. From the Middle Ages his feast day was associated with courtly love.

Nowadays, it’s been commercialized with cards, flowers, candy, and dinners. It took centuries for the present-day Valentine’s Day to evolve.

It’s the same with computers. Ancients used the Antikythera mechanism some 2,000 years ago. It was an ancient Greek analog computer used to track and predict celestial motion.

Nowadays, the computer is evolving at a much faster rate than ever before.

Think about how much technology has advanced over the past 20 years. Facebook started in 2004. The first iPhone was announced in 2007. Think of all the other social media platforms that have launched and the technological advances with smartphones, iPads, Android devices. Now we are seeing more advances in AI (Artificial Intelligence)

What once took centuries, is now happening in a matter of months.

Now Quantum computing and AI (artificial intelligence) is driving the technological revolution. Quantum computing allows us to solve complex problems faster than on regular computers. AI is becoming more mainstream and is being used in more applications from generating content for blog posts to more advanced AI uses in the medical field.

Whether you’re ready for it or not, it’s here. AI is in your browser, on your phone, in your watch and on your computer.

The computers that are hosting AI are amassing and analyzing more data in seconds than any group of analysts could do in years.

This is both good and potentially bad. On the good side, medical advances can occur with new and better treatments for cancer and other medical issues. As far as computers go, AI protects against the constant attacks by bad actors.

On the bad side, AI also is being used by nation-states and countries looking for an edge or weakness to be exploited in our world. Whether it be a single ransomware attack against an individual, an attack on a corporation, or an attack against a country’s infrastructure, hackers are busy trying to disrupt our world.

Most businesses are not prepared because they think since they have a small business, hackers are not interested in getting into their systems.

Bottom line, hackers are in the business of causing chaos whether stealing your personal information, your business information or just taking down your website and replacing it with something you do not want to be associated with.

So technological advances and AI have made it more important than ever to protect your data, computer systems, website and anything else associated with your online personal or business life.

One simple action you can take is to make sure you have two-factor authentication (2FA) for logging into your banking or any other financial accounts. You really need 2FA everywhere you have to login online.

In addition to 2FA, backups and security must be a top priority for every business and household.
