Merry Christmas!
We’re always working for our clients to resolve difficult issues they may be having with their computer systems. But sometimes a work activity is just for fun and to relieve a little stress.
I recently met with Mike Liebensohn owner of Zen Mantis. They create videos for businesses that highlight the character of the owner and the business. We recently worked together to create a video of a fun event for Nay & Associates, LLC.

It’s that time of year again and a lot of people are shopping for a new computer or hoping they get one as a gift.
Ever wonder what to look for to find the best computer to give to your family member?
How about your work computer? Does it need to be replaced/updated?
The answer for all is the same…”It Depends”. The first thing you need to know is how you will be using your computer.
Are you buying a computer for work or home?
Will it be for simple tasks like browsing online or writing using Word? Or will it be used for heavier tasks such as video editing?
If you are buying a computer, here are a few things to look for:
- Windows 11 Home (Personal)
- Windows 11 Pro (Business)
- 32 GB RAM minimum because a lot of Windows processes run in the background which takes up RAM. Also you can do more things with multiple Windows open without taxing your system leading to much faster processing.
- 1TB Solid State Drive because it’s the current standard for computers. They are extremely fast and efficient. Even thou there is a finite number of times you can write to a solid state drive, most are rated about 10 years for the average user.
- Intel I5 or equivalent AMD processor for Home. It’s fast enough to watch the occasional video along with surfing the internet with multiple browser windows open and does a better job of running Microsoft 356 products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
- Intel I7 or AMD equivalent for business does everything the Windows Home version does, but with much better video editing along with more processing power for databases, communications, etc.
Here are a couple of things to beware of when purchasing a computer:
1. Deceptively low pricing because they probably have under powered processors, old standard hard drives or insufficient RAM to run what you need to run. They could also be using Windows 10 which cannot be updated to Windows 11. This means you will have to buy another computer.
2. Many of the cheap systems have a lot of bloatware (unwanted apps that just take up space) and try to get you to buy new stuff that you don’t need.
Hopefully the information above will lead you down the path to purchasing the right computer for your needs.
