Is your business compliant?

What does being compliant mean?

Here is an example of being compliant for business owners…

If you are a business owner. you have multiple regulations to follow. They could be HIPAA (medical), PCI (this applies to regular businesses where you may have your customers banking information, SSN, and other personal information), and Cybersecurity.

Anybody that handles personal information – medical, SSN, address, phone number, account numbers, banks – has to consider compliance regulations they have to uphold.

What could potentially happen if you are not compliant? You could suffer civil and criminal penalties, be fined, shut down or thrown in jail. In the case of cybersecurity insurance, if you can’t show you were doing your due diligence, the insurance company can refuse to pay.

For a small business owner, having to keep up with these regulations can be challenging. And you are busy enough just running your business day-to-day. The last thing you want to think about is compliance. And even if you did think about it, where would you start?

The good news is you can be compliant without spending a lot of time and money. And there are a couple of ways I can help you become compliant.

One way is to for me to come to your place of business and access your current situation and capabilities for compliance. The other way can be done remotely. All you have to do is call me. I will have you download a small program to your computer, so I can get remote access to your system. (This does not give me access to your secure information.)

Then I can review your capabilities for compliance. I can check all your hardware, software, network connections, and email. One way we check is to send fake emails to your people to see who clicks on them, and who needs additional training in that area.(We can’t actually read your emails.)

We offer several types of programs and audits to determine how you fare.

One last thing…

What happens if the government shuts down your business for being non-compliant and can that even happen? See last month’s newsletter to see what happens if the government shuts down access to programs you use.
